We recognise and place great value on literacy skills as an essential tool for achievement in all areas of the curriculum as well as in later life. Speaking, listening reading and writing are taught as individual subjects as well as being part of an integrated curriculum where all these skills combine enabling children to be confident and effective communicators.
English lessons not only include the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but also activities that enrich the experiences of our children through creative and innovative teaching approaches.
We have visits from authors and poets to inspire our children and staff. Our teachers choose texts to engage and enthral our children. New technologies are also used highly effectively to support reading and writing. Consequently, our children make excellent progress and achieve very well.
